Father Michael
J. Bachman began his service to St. Ladislaus in January 2005 and
was officially installed as the parish's eighth pastor on June 12
of that year.
He was born on December 2, 1939, in Stratford, CT. He went to the
Garden School and Fairfield Preparatory School before attending
Fairfield University and Sacred Heart University. After college,
he pursued secular careers, primarily in the banking industry.
While pursuing those secular careers, he was active in his parishes
as an organist and religious education volunteer. In 1980, he applied
to become a permanent deacon at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church
in Bridgeport, soon after deciding to instead enter the seminary.
He completed his theological studies at the Sacred Heart School
of Theology in Hales Corners, WI.
He was ordained a priest on December 22, 1984, by Bishop Walter
W. Curtis at St. Augustine Cathedral in Bridgeport. His first assignment
was at St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Bridgeport, where he served
for two years. He also served at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Stratford,
St. Thomas the Apostle in Norwalk, St. Rose of Lima in Newtown and
St. Patrick's in Bridgeport - the last of those for 10 years.
Father Bachman has made a priority of restoring St. Ladislaus Church
to its former grandeur, commissioning the renovation of the altar
and basement and actively pursuing a renovation of the church interior.
